We are also delighted to announce that all of Utilisoft’s SEM customers have successfully completed the latest phase of testing prior to market go-live (Type 3 Communications Channel Qualification Testing).
The All Island Single Electricity Market (SEM) is the wholesale electricity market being implemented across the entire island of Ireland, from November 2007. This new market will replace the current arrangement where electricity is bought directly by supply companies from power generators based on a series of contracts. In the SEM, competing generators will offer their output through a pool market where all electricity for the whole island will be bought and sold. All electricity companies in Northern Ireland and in the Republic of Ireland will be required to buy and sell energy through this market.
Aidan Keely, SEM Programme Manager, at Bord Gáis commented on the selection of Utilisoft’s solutions: “Wheninvestigating the options for delivery of an SEM solution we were faced with a number of potential options. Utilisoft stood out as the most suitable choice to ensure that we meet the challenging deadlines. The quality of their solution and the knowledge of their people during the initial stages of the project is already starting to show through in the initial phases of testing and implementation.”
John Furness, Managing Director of Utilisoft commented: “It is terrific news for everyone at Utilisoft that Bord Gáis has selected our SEM solution, especially considering the calibre of competition we beat in the tender process. We are also delighted that all of our customers in the market have passed the Type 3 market testing, which is a fantastic endorsement for our solution.”
